Harper’s Bazaar, I freakin’ love you. You’re extremely well curated fifty four images of couture street style are making me swoon. Don’t get me wrong, my eyes were glued to many a show coming from Milan, Sao Paulo, and Paris this season but for me street style is what I’m always waiting for. How to actually make it work in real life. Runway to sidewalk, on different body shapes (oh who am I kidding, 99% of them are models), Harper’s Bazaar documents it best.

Remember on Friday when I mentioned that Monday started market week? Well, I spent a lot of time yesterday working on putting together outfits. Here are my concepts for outfits for the week. Obviously, these will all be adapted to my wardrobe, but here is the jist of what I’ll be wearing this week. My accounts from Australia, Indonesia, and Thailand will be in the office this week to preview the Fall 2012 line. Exciting stuff!

For some of you, pleats can be very scary at first. I wouldn’t go near a pleat until biting the bullet on a Jason Wu for Target pleated skirt. It’s patiently waiting in my closet for warmer weather but I have a feeling it will be making its debut this weekend. I’ve also been seeing a lot of pleated hi-lo skirts that could be styled a million different ways through the spring and summer. Because I’m not a size zero, two, or four I’ve found they look best with a tucked in tee and a sweater (or a longer, more “boyfriend” style blazer) over. Here are some of the photos that inspired me to bite the bullet.

How To Wear: Mint

Mint is officially everywhere. My nails are mint and I have my eye on this mint watch but I’m also obsessed with mint pants, skirts, and blouses. Really, you can pair mint with almost anything. A floral print, leopard print, denim, or just simple color blocking… it works.

Piperlime is always my go to for shoes. I can compare a million different brands and styles and really get into what I’m looking for. For spring, I’m looking for color blocked sandals. As you all know, I’m trying desperately to add color to my wardrobe. So in the spring when I feel like I need to wear all black, I can throw on a great pair of bright sandals and still have a pop of color or in this case colors. Color blocking is one of my favorite trends, so I’m happy there are about a million color blocked shoe options. Here are my favorites.

I’m ashamed to say that I only recently (like, last year) started shopping J. Crew. Now I can’t get enough. Clean lines all day everyday, not to mention the greatest silk button downs on the planet. Plus, basically everything is offered in tall!

I love the coloring of this fall 2012 collection. The whole thing seems so simple but J. Crew is the only one who can execute this style oh so perfectly. And just wait until you see menswear, I guarantee every guy in your family will be shopping there come May!

Kung Hei Fat Choi! The people of China celebrate the Chinese New Year today! While working for an international department in the fashion industry, I learned a lot about holidays all over the world. Chinese New Year has always been my favorite celebration though and this year is extra special because it’s the year of the Dragon. To me, the year of the dragon means it’s time to adopt a “go get ’em” attitude towards certain things in my life. Like my post yesterday said, it’s time to do something about that list of goals collecting dust!

What should you add to your wardrobe to channel that dragon? These pieces would be absolutely perfect to show the world that you mean business. A leather lapelled blazer? Sign me up! Now go be the dragon you always knew you could be!
